Ok, so you're wondering...valuable insights from someone online...how's this possible? Well, my work experience and education is in the specialty of psychiatry.

In my experience, good judgment comes from trusting in one's self and good trustworthy people. The best pieces of advice for self-care are the following:

  • Do one of your favorite hobbies, at least daily and as much as you can
  • See this article for ideas https://fortheloveoffoodscienceandtravel.com/quick-self-care-activities-with-a-busy-schedule/
  • Get validating therapy and medical providers and support groups
  • Get validating friends and faith followers, whatever your preference for spiritual or religious practice, who make you feel good and support you and talk about positive growth in different life aspects as physical appearance, career, finances, etc.
  • Make connections at your school with colleagues that are supportive or validating. If they are not supportive and make you feel worse, move on til you find the right person. All you need is one person.  Sometimes, it's hard to find one validating person to study with, but don't fret.  It's worth it when you find the right support.
  • Most importantly, you are YOUR biggest strength.  A nursing professor of mine shared this with me. It's important to realize that you are and start to intellectualize that you are your biggest strength and you are stronger than you realise. You have to know that you cannot depend on others to help you with your goal, even if they are unable to help you, you must keep moving and fulfill your goals to yourself.

Recommendations:

Prioritize mental health. Tap past therapist for referrals.
