Even though they were only one of several dumpling styles popular in Shanghai, soup dumplings formed the centerpiece of Joe’s menu, and a New York Times review by Ruth Reichl caused a craze to develop. Joe's Shanghai is known for its pork soup dumplings. There are also crab and pork flavored , but pork soup dumplings are the best of the variety. They also have amazing fried rice. As a heads up, this is a very relaxed and casual environment. Thus, do not expect fine dining. The food is affordable, service is fast once you have a table, and you get a very authentic experience. Heads up, there can be a long wait to get seated. Sometimes, though, things that take a while are worth the wait. Joe's Shanghai is no exception.
